The Prelude to a Kiss – WMC 09

Every year musicians, DJ’s and music lovers from around the world come to the Magic city to attend Winter Music Conference (WMC), which is by far the hottest event that the city of Miami has to offer. Anyone who has ever spent a weekend in the city should know that is saying a lot. During the last week of March South Beach comes alive with music. Every hotel, boutique shop and storefront hires a DJ to set up their tables and spin from the early morning late into the night when the real parties begin.

This year I was able to attend a couple of events with some friends of mine. The experience was un-freakin-believable! The face that I had my new camera with me made it that much better. I’m not sure that I can do this event justice by attempting to describe it.

Jeff and I have been friends for years since our days as undergrads at Tuskegee and Morehouse, respectively. Athough this has always been a source of friendly rivalry, we have never let it get in the way of our friendship. Besides we both know nothing beats Da House. But I digress…

When Jeff asked if I would take his picture, I jumped at the chance. Not only because I’ve seen what’s in his closet (I swear it’s like walking into Barney New York), but also because I knew I would come away wth some great pics.

Remington Steele ’09

Yesterday I was fortunate to work with Gary T. Gary is an actor/model, based in South Beach, Florida. He contacted me via www.modelmayem.com about adding some new head shots for his portfolio. He was drawn to the black & white portraits in my portfolio and wanted to pursue that direction for his. Coincidentally, I was looking to do a new black & white photo story, so Gary’s message was right on time.

Working with Gary was a great experience. I found him pleasant to talk to and a joy to shoot. I learned that in addition to being a model and actor, Gary is also a professional and talented painter. I’ll have to make it a point to look at some of his work in theĀ  near future. The shoot was great and the pictures turned out to be fantastic. My assistant for the day, Elton Anderson, [a fellow photog - www.eltonanderson.com] thought that Gary reminded him of Pierce Brosnan. I agree…
